Tanzeem Women Wing

Introduction and Brief History

Women empowerment has been and still is, one of priority sector of Tanzeem’s activities, ever since it has come into existence. We believe that without participation of women a society cannot produce healthy environment. We also believe in the awareness of women, as constituting half of our population, the more we educate them the better our coming generation will help improving future social order. In our semi tribal setup we find it more appropriate to educate our women because we understand that a good educated mother can develop and promote family members with much wider vision, particularly witnessing in such a fragmented society where women have not been provided equitable share in the process of economic development. The disadvantaged status of the women severely constrains the development potential. Socio economic barriers to investment in female education, coupled with gender biased policies in providing equal opportunities diminish the importance of women.

Keeping in view that the involvement of women is an essential factor for faster social and economic progress Tanzeem embarked on taking initiative for program activities to reach the women at the grassroots level. Accordingly during decade of 1980 constitution was amended by providing separate clauses for establishment of Tanzeem women wing. Though we faced great hardship due to the overall illiterate tribal approach in formatting an independent body of women wing, however, our firm commitment made it possible by facilitating a representative program activity in the field of education at first hand. After the increasing sustainable contact, our initial period of breakthrough has been the year of consolidation and development which very soon led to the establishment of Tanzeem Women Wing as an independent body. Since Tanzeem has restrained resources and by increase in it over time, we hoped to be able to grant complete operational autonomy to the Tanzeem Women Wing under governance of Tanzeem for the purpose of working relations which has been successfully achieved

Strategic program activity

During the course of taking initiative to establish contact with educated women, recognizing the status of women in our tribal oriented society remained a high priority. When for the first time a cultural exhibition was arranged to facilitate program activity for the involvement of women, it turned up very encouraging and that was not confronted with any kind of hindrance as was usually evident in the past years.

For women to transform themselves into effective and independent position, particularly in such a semi tribal setup, they either need to federate into coalitions, or to scale up individually. In either case, may it be for the time being, they require supporting base and managerial know how. Our successful initiatives to persuade women for participation in their own gathering, conferences and meetings brought about a very positive result. And this practice precipitated initiative for their representation in Tanzeem’s program activities. As social mobilization of human resources in women sector were viewed of very much important , therefore recognizing this fact it became vital strategic priority to implement program activity regarding establishment of an independent women wing of Tanzeem. As a result of this attempt, remarkable achievement in beginning women wing into existence emerged, as turning point in the historical process of Tanzeem taking into account the following three pronged strategy:
